books are better than boys

I live in Chicago but I'm an east coast girl at heart. I like bicycles, beer, and books.

Bill Nye explains how ‘top kill’ works, and suddenly, the BP oil spill seems like it was worth the effort. I would watch this man talk about what he ate for breakfast.

[Bill Nye On How ‘Top Kill’ Works]

Yes.

Bill Nye breaks it down for us.

He makes me consider going back to school to become a science teacher.  He also reminds me of my high school AP physics teacher* Mr. L who always wore a tie with tabasco sauce on it on Tuesdays (Tabasco Tuesdays!) and who would practice his bowling throw (sans ball) in the front of the classroom while we were taking tests.  My mother had him for physics his first year teaching and I had him his last year.  Our class bought him a bowling ball and he took us all out bowling after finals.  One of my best teachers ever.

*Nerd alert - I love(d) science and competed in the Science Olympiad all throughout high school. My favorite year was when I competed in both the Periodic Table and Polymers and Plastics events.  So fun!  Right?
