books are better than boys

I live in Chicago but I'm an east coast girl at heart. I like bicycles, beer, and books.

What a downer.  Get on yer bikes people!
I am constantly surprised by the number of people who drive, when many times public transit, walking, or biking would be a faster, better option.  A couple of weeks ago in one of my classes we talked about how long it takes everyone to commute and how they commute.  Out of 27 people in a Geography and Environmental Studies class only two (including myself) biked and one took the bus.  Everyone else drove, alone, in their cars.  Some of them were driving one or two miles to get to school.  Really?  I mean, really? Also, when looking at comparable commute distances, us bikers were covering the distance in a lot less time than drivers.
