things that I drank that I loved

(Philadelphia edition)

  • Manayunk Biere de Mars
  • Brew Free or Die IPA
  • Jolly Pumpkin Madrugada Obscura
  • Sly Fox Route 113 IPA
  • Troegs Hopback (cask)
  • Victory Storm King Imperial Stout
  • Russian River Consecration
  • Duchesse de Bourgogne
  • Dirty gin martini
  • Tecate Michelada
  • Rosé, unknown brand
  • Iced americano, from Ultimo (these kids really know their coffee)
  • Arnold Palmer

Despite the length and content of most of this list, I was not drunk the entire time. I also had the sicilian pizza from FrancoLuigi’s (the best ever), played Catch Phrase! so hard that we broke the game, saw my friend’s dream catcher wall (this friend), walked all over the city, pretended it was the middle of summer (90° in Philly yesterday), and even found some time to go on a job interview. I’d call it a rousing success.

I just made this creamy avocado, arugula, broccoli soup from Honest Fare, and damn girl, that’s one fine soup. Washed it down with some New Belgium Abbey. Doesn’t get much better.

I like to celebrate the birth of the baby jesus by reading about GIS tools for accessibility analysis in urban transportation modes and holistic approaches to cycle network planning while eating delicious, homemade moroccan pot pie and drinking a bomber of Ragnarok.

There are about six pictures documenting my vacation. Part of me wishes I would have taken a few more, but at the same time it was pretty nice that we were all having so much fun we didn’t even have time to think about pulling out cameras and posing for pictures. This is one of the few pictures that exist - my final meal in Philly, a giant slice of pizza (in the box) and Tröegs Mad Elf Ale (which one of my favorite seasonal beers of forever).
There is also a picture of AGS standing in front of a display on the first documented case of homosexual necrophilia in the mallard at MOSex. I mean, how could you not take a picture of that?

This weekend was oh so quiet. I didn’t go out at all on Friday or Saturday night and I can’t remember the last time that happened. I stayed in, watched My Man Godfrey and Sullivan’s Travels (my goodness - don’t Veronica Lake and Joel McCrea make just about the most attractive couple ever?), started reading The Virgin Suicides, drank coffee, finally got my sewing machine out of our storage room/pantry to make the shirt above, and just so you don’t think I’m completely lame - I did make the trek down to Bridgeport to finally check out Maria’s and decided that black lagers are my choice drink for fall.
(Additional note: Why yes, that is a First Lady by Belvedere hair salon drying chair. And yes, it does work. If you’re all like, my hair is so wet! I need to get it dry and I don’t even want to stand right now, or hold a blow dryer, then I can help you out.)

I tried Miko’s tonight for the first time. (After living so close for for over a year it was about time.) Half chocolate, half raspberry, 100% delicious. And a big thank you to Food Digest for encouraging me to walk the two blocks and finally get this amazing summer treat.
I also tried, for the very first time, Tramp Stamp, from Clown Shoes Beer. Despite it’s horrific name, it’s a pretty decent beer.
This is summer.
