Style icon: Jessica FletcherI’ve thought about how stylish Jessica Fletcher is too many times to count*.  Growing up I loved Murder She Wrote, and I thought she was the absolute best.  I’m just so glad that I’m not the only one.
*I’ve even posted about it before.

jewelry giveaway numero uno.  unfortunately, this is for tumblr users only.  the next two giveaways will incorporate everybody but i felt the need to call out to my tumbling followers and friends.  so the whole point of this blog is to style historical and literary (sometimes musical) personalities.  as such, re-blog this post and add one of the below…do be sure that it is obvious how to e-mail you should you be the winner (include in re-blog or make sure it is clearly visible on your tumblr)1: who in history or literature you could see wearing this and brief brief reasoning behind it2: how you would wear this piece.i want to make sure that wherever this ends up it will be used properly, needs to have a good home.  also, some questions have been raised about the necklace.  rest assured it is indeed a kate spade new york necklace and is brand new, never used and has a logo stamp on the clasp.  it is also one of kind, not another one like it in the whole wide world, aren’t you lucky?  good luck!

Is it absolutely crazy that I first thought of a grown up version of Ramona Quimby?  She had so much spunk and determination and heart.  She insisted on getting those red rain boots and she named her doll Chevrolet because she thought it sounded beautiful (and come on, if you can separate the word from the product, I think you might agree it’s quite pleasing).  I’m picturing her as a stylish, self assured, twenty-something, tomboy wearing it with jeans, plain white tee, and simple boots (probably sporting the same hair style she did when she was eight).
(Probably how I would wear it myself, except with my brand new booties, which I adore.)

I would. And I am seriously considering getting those glasses. And I need to stop procrastinating, because my paper on the aestheticization of the politics of landscape preservation and my economic analysis for Chicago replacing impervious pavement with permeable pavement in back alleys to reduce storm water runoff are not going to write themselves.

Elle shoe diary

In case you wanted to know what the employees at Elle are putting on their feet.  It’s not all ridiculously high and expensive heels.
